Prayer Prescription for This Date

PRAYER Rx --- September 25

Dear Lord, this week, help me to try to see myself as You must see me when measured by Your Word. (Am I a staunch believer, or am I lukewarm? Do I accept Your Word as the truth, or do I pick and choose the parts of the Bible with which I agree? Am I a skeptic, an agnostic, or an atheist?) ... Open my eyes to see that Your ten commandments, as outlined in the book of Exodus, have been the basis for civilization's moral code down through the ages. ... Do I accept this, or do I embrace the new "cultural shift," whose adherents are trying to write their own rules to allow their favorite sins? ... In Exodus, Chapter 20, You began by saying: "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other Gods before me."*...Do I really accept Your sovereignty? Must I relive the Old Testament sins, and experience Your punishment? Give me an overwhelming desire to know You through Your Word and through Your Son, Jesus Christ, lest I be led to "strange gods" and to deny You completely. Remind me that the writers of the Bible -- both the Old and the New Testaments -- were divinely inspired by Your Holy Spirit. Forgive me for thinking that I can manage my life without You.

In His holy name I pray.

Amen.
