PRAYER Rx --- September 23
Dear Lord, as we pray for Your guidance for our nation in these critical times, give us the wisdom to measure our decisions by Your yardstick. If we are truthful with ourselves, we will realize that You measure a man or a woman by his or her character. You consider their daily actions and dealings, how they live their lives, how they treat their families and friends; not by their words and promises, but by whether they live by our nation's laws, and whether their word is their bond. ... It is true that You alone are the final judge of one's heart, one's motives, and one's life, but You have called each of us as citizens to decide, not those who are qualified to go to heaven, but rather those who are worthy to hold the high offices of our nation. ... Every day we are expected to make these kinds of judgments, and to decide how our own actions and those of others, the lives we live, and the examples that we set at work and at home will help or hinder our nation, and determine our children's inheritance. ... Can we demand less of our leaders and ourselves? Help us, we pray, for it is our call.
