PRAYER Rx --- July 3
Dear Lord God, the continuation of our nation's freedom depends on how well we understand its history and pass it on to our children, doesn't it? Our forefathers, the founders of our nation, depended on You as our "Creator God," our strength, and our guide. ... Let us pass on these truths, lest we forget, and some not even have the chance to learn of them. ... It is up to each of us, isn't it? The writers of the Declaration of Independence saw fit to include these passages: "...the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature's God entitle them,..."; "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, ..."; and they concluded with, "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and sacred Honor."* ... Help us, Lord, to realize that in these changing times our nation's very survival is threatened. Give us the courage and wisdom to stand with You and for You, to pass on Your truths, lest we all fall prey to deception.
