PRAYER Rx --- February 1
Dear Lord, the Psalmist has said: "It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes."* Help us to see that sometimes it takes affliction or severe criticism for You to get our full attention and cooperation. ... Such a time is this in our country's present travail. ... We pray for our President and his wife as they face both their problems and ours. ... Remind us all that we are not who we say we are, but rather it is our actions that define us; yet if we truly repent and turn our lives around, You are ready to forgive our sins. ... Can any nation long survive if its leaders can not be trusted? Help us to see that honesty and truth are as necessary in one's private life as in one's public dealings. ... How can we expect our children to be honest and truthful if we ourselves are not? Oh Lord, we pray for our nation, our leaders, and ourselves. ... Could it be that we all need to take a closer look at Your 10 commandments?
