PRAYER Rx --- October 11
Dear Lord, our nation was founded with Your help on Judeo- Christian religious beliefs. Our moral guidelines were Your ten commandments. Our young people learned right from wrong! ... Today, when a sixteen year-old high school student was asked to define "right," she answered, "I guess whatever makes you feel good, whatever seems right to you!" ... When asked by the interviewer, "If I wanted to murder you, would that be right?" ... The teenager answered, "Well, I suppose you'd have your reasons!" ... And so today, we find ourselves not wanting to offend anyone, and in danger of standing for nothing! ... Remind us, Lord, that the late Catherine Marshall predicted that by taking prayer out of our schools, we would bring on our nation's downfall! ... How can we survive as a nation, as a people, who find their streets, their homes, and their communities unsafe? How much longer can we lock You out of our schools and call ourselves a "free nation?" ... Oh Lord, open our eyes to see the error of our ways, lest we become just another page in history, repeating the sins of Your people as recorded in the Old Testament -- denying Your existence and truth, and turning to other "gods." Help us, Lord, before it is too late!
